Digital Mill are a digital first creative production studio with offshore capabilities and our own cloud based, automated asset production platform. We work across all screen and media types including DOOH, social, display and video, collaborating with agencies and brands taking master templates and delivering digital creative assets at scale and speed. 

We believe that purely automated systems lack flexibility and the personal touch and that a combination of experts who can utilise technology on behalf of clients can make all the difference. We aren’t restricted by templates nor resource and are able to offer an effective and efficient solution tailored to each organisation. With the continuing rapid growth in digital advertising globally and the resultant requirement in digital assets, Digital Mill, with over 150 digital specialists are well placed to serve this growing need for brands and agencies.    

Why we exist

Digital Mill founders, Steve Lawson and Vin Chinnaraja, two long serving members of the UK digital industry, initially worked together in 2012 when Steve was the Digital Production Director at Saatchi & Saatchi London and Vin was CEO of Leeds based Branded3 (acquired by Kin + Carta). In a moment of serendipity, they reconnected in early 2021 which has culminated in the launch of Digital Mill.  

Pre pandemic the world was already ‘digital’, the tools were in place. However, the last two years accelerated digital behaviour and pushed it into every corner of peoples’ lives. The need for connected digital experiences has gone mainstream and the fact that all screens and channels will be increasingly bought programmatically, means advertisers can more readily utilise the different channels and platforms available. 

After much discussion, research and analysis, with Vin’s business experience and passion for all things digital and Steve’s production and management experience, there was an obvious opportunity and Digital Mill was formed. The creation of a hybrid model of on and offshore digital production experts, underpinned by automated cloud technology to provide a fast, scalable and cost effective solution tailored to the needs of each business.

Who we are

STEVE LAWSON
Steve spent the first 20 years of his career working in digital media and advertising in senior and global level production roles at agencies including Isobar, Saatchi & Saatchi and Omnicom (Drum), working across clients such as adidas Group, Nokia, Visa, T Mobile, BT and Sony PlayStation. 

He has worked across multiple sectors, on global and national clients, alongside and within many types of agencies and with some of the best people in the business. He’s delivered and overseen many complex multichannel programmes and built and managed cross discipline teams within digital, media, ATL and content environments.

He left London in 2016 to become MD of Manchester’s Modern English, a digital creative technology agency focused on the entertainment industries with clients including Sony Music, the Foo Fighters and the BBC.

VIN CHINNARAJA
Vin is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded Branded3 in 2003 and exited to Kin + Carta (then St. Ives) in 2013.  After a successful handover to management, he fully exited the business at the end of 2015.  Since then, Vin has gone on to invest in a number of technology and media businesses including Hark, Connective3, Forde Baker, Lion + Mason and now Digital Mill.
